Day 2

Whale Safari & Adoption

Join a whale-watching adventure off the coast of Peninsula Valdés, providing a clos encounter with southern right whales - the gentle giants of the sea.
Depart Puerto Madryn with your guide and drive to the entrance of Valdés Peninsula – a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. This amazing place comprises over 1,500 square miles of headlands, salt water lakes, depressions and rocky cliffs jutting 30 miles into the Atlantic. This is also one of the finest wildlife reserves in South America. The surrounding shallow bays, gulfs and beaches make the Peninsula one of the most diverse bio habitats in South America. Over half of the world's southern right whale population frequent the waters off Valdés Peninsula, which is also home to major colonies of seals, sea
lions and seabirds.
You can opt for the traditional navigation on an open boat, or for a ride in a Submarine where these amazing mammals can be watched underwater.
Right whales are friendly creatures, swimming gently under and alongside the boat, sticking their heads out of the water, and showing off their beautiful sculptured tails You will become a whale sponsor by choosing your favourite creature for adoption! The
funds generate through the Whale Adoption Program are used to continue scientific studies that allow finding solutions to the problems faced by whales and transform them into actions for their conservation.
The whales chosen for adoption have a unique and personal life story: which one will be yours? “Nube”, the tiny one, “Aoni” the movie star! , “Manantial” the gentle mother, “Valentina” more than 50 yrs old, “ Mochita” the sociable one.
You will receive an Adoption Certificate plus the biography of your adopted whale and a record of their travels and personality. Finally, we return to the city of Puerto Madryn at sunset.

Day 3

Magellanic Penguins at San Lorenzo Ranch

Visit the world’s biggest Magellanic penguin rookery at San Lorenzo Ranch, which has been growing steadily ever since penguins started to nest here nearly 50 years ago, with around 600.000 penguins in the peak season.
Magellanic penguins arrive every year in early September and leave by the end of April.
The circuit stretches through a penguin transit and burrowing area. Halfway along the walkway there is an astonishing lookout over San Matias Gulf and the wide beach used by penguins to get in and out of the water, and to rest.
After a short distance we come to the Archeological Area, where we find physical evidence of native people who lived here over two thousand years ago.
The trek in the dunes goes on as we start to see the first penguins beneath the shrubs or walking on the sand. This circuit by the farm premises offers a trek through plant species typically found on Peninsula Valdes. Along the trail, there are good chances to see animals
such as burrowing owls and Patagonian cavies.
There is a typical lamb barbecue for lunch at the Ranch (and vegetarian options). The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the premises.

Day 4

Snorkeling with Sea Lions or Chubut River Valley

Today it will be at leisure.
You can opt to either go snorkelling with sea lions or visit Gaiman, a small town by the Chubut River with buildings dating from the late 19th Century, when Welsh settlers arrived in Chubut to live in this valley. Here you can taste the exquisite Welsh Tea service (optional) with a variety of homemade cakes.
In the evening, we will go to a special beach to say farewell to Puerto Madryn over an incredible moon. *depending on availability.
